ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini: which AI tool should hotels choose?

⚖️

There is no universally « best » AI tool for hospitality: the right choice depends on the task. In short, ChatGPT is the most versatile (text and images), Claude excels at long documents and getting the tone right, and Gemini shines in the Google ecosystem and in multilingual work. In my training sessions, a staff member using the right tool for the right task saves on average 30 to 60 minutes a day on writing, an estimate observed in workshops, to be validated within your own organization.

I'm Tiffany Weltman, a generative-AI trainer specialized in hotels and restaurants. I've trained over 2,500 staff, at Accor, Paris Society, Airelles and the Plaza Athénée, and my programs are Qualiopi-certified, so they can be funded through your training scheme. This comparison is deliberately honest: there is no single winner, only the right tool for your use.

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini: each one's strengths

All three rest on the same idea, a conversational assistant you talk to in plain language, but each has its own personality.

  • ChatGPT (OpenAI): the best known and most versatile. Excellent for fast writing, brainstorming, review replies and built-in image generation. Its ecosystem of custom assistants is very rich.
  • Claude (Anthropic): known for a natural, nuanced tone and for reading long documents (procedures, contracts, reports dozens of pages long). It stays factual and « embellishes » less.
  • Gemini (Google): built into Gmail, Docs and Workspace, very comfortable with multiple languages and connected to Google Search for recent information.

Writing and tone: replying to reviews and guests

This is the number-one use in hospitality. All three write well, but with nuances. Claude often produces the most « human » and measured tone, ideal for a sensitive reply to a negative review. ChatGPT is fast and flexible for generating variants. Gemini is handy if your replies go straight out of Gmail. Whatever the tool, the prompt is the key: give it context, tone and a target length.

You are the guest relations manager of a 4-star hotel. Write a reply to this Google review, in English, warm and professional tone, 4 sentences maximum, no commercial promises: « [paste the review] ». Thank the guest, address the specific point raised, and invite them to return.

Multilingual and long documents

For an international clientele, all three translate very well. Gemini has a slight edge on less common languages and Google Translate integration; Claude and ChatGPT handle the major tourism languages perfectly (English, Spanish, Italian, German, Arabic, Mandarin). Always ask for a tone suited to hospitality, not a literal translation.

Translate this welcome message into English, Spanish and Italian. Keep an elegant, warm luxury-hotel tone and adapt the courtesy formulas to each culture: « [paste the text] ».

For long documents, welcome booklets, procedures, supplier contracts, reports, Claude is my favorite: it reads a PDF dozens of pages long and summarizes it or extracts the key points reliably. ChatGPT and Gemini do this too, with length limits that vary by version.

Images, visuals and ecosystem

If you want to generate visuals (an Instagram post, a menu's mood, an event-decor idea), ChatGPT and Gemini include image creation; Claude focuses on text. On the ecosystem side, Gemini is unbeatable if your property already runs on Google Workspace, while ChatGPT integrates with a very wide range of third-party tools. Important reminder: an AI-generated image is not a photo of your property, never use it to represent a real room or dish.

Data privacy: the point to watch

This is the topic I stress most in training. Never enter guests' personal data (full name tied to a stay, card number, health data, contact details) into a free consumer version: your inputs can be used to train the models.

  • Prefer the professional / enterprise versions (ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude for Work, Gemini in Workspace), which guarantee your data is not reused and offer a better GDPR framework.
  • Always anonymize: replace real names with « Mr. X », remove booking numbers.
  • Check that the use complies with your internal policy and inform your DPO if you have one.

How to choose based on your use

Here are my concrete recommendations, by use-case:

  • Review replies and delicate emails → Claude (tone) or ChatGPT (speed).
  • International clientele, translations → Gemini or ChatGPT.
  • Procedures, contracts, long reports → Claude.
  • Visuals and social media posts → ChatGPT or Gemini.
  • Property already on Google Workspace → Gemini.

Free or paid?

The free versions are enough to explore and for simple, non-sensitive tasks. As soon as use becomes daily, professional or touches guest data, the paid version (roughly 20 to 30 € per month per user) is justified: better-quality answers, longer documents, and above all a suitable privacy framework.

My final tip: don't look for the perfect tool, look for the right habit. Many of the teams I train use two of them daily. If you want to upskill your teams smoothly, discover my training programs.

FAQ

What is the best AI tool for hospitality?

There isn't a single one. ChatGPT is the most versatile and strong with images, Claude excels at tone and long documents, Gemini shines in multilingual work and the Google ecosystem. The right choice depends on the task: review replies, translation, analyzing procedures or creating visuals.

Can hotels use ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini for free?

Yes, all three have a free version that's enough to explore and for simple tasks. But for daily, professional use or anything touching guest data, the paid version (about 20 to 30 € per month) brings better answers and a more suitable privacy framework.

Can I enter guest data into these AI tools?

With great caution. Never enter personal data (a name tied to a stay, card details, health data) into a free consumer version. Always anonymize and prefer the enterprise versions, which offer GDPR guarantees.

Should I choose one tool or several?

Many teams I train use two: for example Claude for review replies and documents, ChatGPT or Gemini for translations and visuals. The key is to build the right habit, not to find the perfect tool.
